Thermocene was presented in the Project Room of GAMeC as part of Mountain Forgets You by EX., within the programme Pensare come una montagna – Il Biennale delle Orobie.
The installation connected two alpine shelters located at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level through a network of environmental sensors, radio transmissions and audiovisual devices. Operating as remote observatories, the shelters continuously collected signals from the surrounding landscape, revealing the complex interactions between climate, technology and human activity.
Created by Giorgio Ferrero, Rodolfo Mongitore (Mybosswas) and EX., curated by Arteco and produced with Kino Produzioni, Thermocene is an immersive audiovisual work, a visual and sonic symphony born from a reflection on the relationship between habitat, human society and technology. The project explores the possibility of a shared future in which nature and Homo sapiens inevitably collaborate in the emergence of a new collective consciousness shaped by time.
The installation forms part of the development process of the feature-length documentary Thermocene, directed by Giorgio Ferrero and produced by Kino Produzioni and Mybosswas.
